Casuarina junghuhniana

Casuarina junghuhniana Casuarina junghuhnianais a fast-growing, deciduous tree. It grows up to a height ranging from 15-25 m with girth of 30-50 cm.It is drought-tolerant variety and also can survive in prolonged water logging conditions due to its ability to cope up with oxygen deficiency. It is a pioneer species of deforested land such as rocky slopes and undisturbed areas.

  • Casuarina junghuhniana

It is commonly cultivated in southern India along the sea coast as it has very good adaptation for saline tolerance. This species have a very good ability for fixing atmospheric nitrogen through root nodulation from an Actinomycetes bacteria called Frankia.

It can be cultivated in varied soil conditions with minimal management inputs. It is less prone to pest and diseases. Harvesting cycle can be as early as 3 years based on requirement but 5 years of growth will give tremendous biomass growth. Cultivation of Casuarina has been adopted by many farmers from many decades and have good social acceptance. This species is environmental friendly and do not acidify the soil and deplete underground water table unlike Eucalyptus.

This species has lot of commercial value in terms of high biomass, paper and pulp industry and as scaffolding poles.

We provide quality Casuarina junghuhniana planting material through known source of seeds. Quality seedlings of 1 feet height with 2 mm dia. These pants are treated with Frankia a nitrogen fixing actinomycetes bacteria which help in better growth.

Melia dubia

Melia dubia is an indigenous South East Asianspecies belonging to the Meliaceae (neem) family. It is commonly called as forest neem or jungle neem tree. It is one of the fastest growing timber species and the finest of all particularly for the plywood industry.

  • Melia dubia

It has gained importance due to its fast growth nature coupled with ideal physical and mechanical characteristics requirement for plywood industry. This tree attains a maximum height of 15 m with a clear cylindrical bole of 9 m with 1.2-1.5 m girth in 7-8 years.

The exceptional quality of this species is that, it possess self-pruning character which produces a clear cylindrical bole without any knots. It can be harvested in a very short period of 6-7 years. It has coppicing ability with at least 3 rotation and hence re planting after every harvesting is not required. This species can be brought under farm cultivation with simple practices.

We raise seedlings, the seed treatment and germination is carried out in scientific way in raised nursery beds. We attain a very high seed germination rate of 100-200% by our indigenous seed treatment techniques. The germinated seedlings are transplanted into 5X8’ polythene bags under nursery conditions. The seedlings are fertigation at timely interval for good luxurious growth. Seedlings of 1 feet height, 2mm collar dia. and 0.7 feet root length are screened for quality check before selling.

This species is one of the best socially accepted for farm forestry as the leaves can be used as fodder. The tree shade is utilized for growing of other commercial crops which grows in shade.

Bamboo

The uniqueness of the bamboo lies in its versatile nature right from 1250 species diversity to 1500 documented uses and adaptability. Among them we work on 5 industrially important species, they are; Bambusa balcooa, Dendrocalamus asper, D. brandisii, D. stocksii, Guadua angustifolia and Thyrsostachys oliveri.

  • Bamboo

Bambusa balcooa

Bambusa balcooa Roxb. (Poaceae: Bambusoideae) is a multi-purpose bamboo species native to Indian subcontinent. It is a tall bamboo with green culms measuring 30 m in height, 8-15 cm in diameter and is distributed in different parts of India up to an altitude of 600 m. This species has been identified as one of the priority bamboo species by the National Bamboo Mission (Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India).

B. balcooa, has gain importance due to its high biomass yielding capacity. It grows very fast and a non-thorny hardy species which can come in varied agro climatic conditions under proper management. The internodal length varies from 20-45 cm with wall thickness of 1.9-3.0 cm. Well managed plantation can produce 6-8 culms/year with an average weight of 25kg/culm. Under managed conditions culms can be harvested from 4th year and a yield of 30-40 tons/acre can be achieved.

This species is best suited for biomass for energy plantation, pulp production and also for incense stick making and as scaffolding material in construction industry.

Dendrocalamus asper

D. asper a giant bamboo native to South East Asia has gained importance due to its edible nature. The poles attain a height of 2-30 m with an intermodal length of 20-45 cm.The well grown culms have a diameter of 8-20 cm with a wall thickness up to 2.0cm. It thrives best at 400-500 m altitude in areas with average annual rainfall of about 2,400 mm.Well managed plantation can produce 6 culms/year weighing 20kg from 4 years and 40kg from 8years onwards.

  • Dendrocalamus asper

This species is best suited for edible products as well for building material, structural timber for heavy constructions, incense sticks, furniture and construction.

Dendrocalamus stocksii

D. stocksii an endemic species of Western ghat of India is unique for its solid and small culms.Culms attain a height of 10 M with diameter of 3.0 – 4.5 cm.It’s the best species for homestead plantation and also for agroforestry practices. Plantations of D. stocksii on plains have also shown well adaptation to semi-arid conditions.

  • Dendrocalamus stocksii

The culms are used for furniture making, as lathi poles, staking for banana plants and much more.

Dendrocalamus brandisii

D. asper a giant bamboo native to South East Asia has gained importance due to its edible nature.

  • Dendrocalamus brandisii

This species is best suited for incense stick, furniture, farm implements, baskets, handicrafts and used at weight bearing construction sites.
